If you’re cheap bastards like us and just bought an old, beat-up Airstream, you have a lot of work ahead of you.
The work is hard but the rewards are endless, or so they say. So far, our Airstream Argosy is sitting in our back yard with no floor, but we’re excitedly awaiting spring so we can fix that minor problem and start using the trailer as a glorified camper.
If you want to learn how to remove rivets with just a drill, check out this post. If you also have an Argosy and are stripping the exterior paint, head on over to this post and watch our time lapse video.
A lot of Airstreams have floor rot, so don’t feel alone if you’re ripping yours out. Here is our step-by-step guide to an on-frame floor removal.
If your windows are still intact, for the love of all things – protect those suckers. Seriously, you don’t want to dish out your money on new windows if you can help it. Buy ’em or make ’em, but make sure you have some rock guards. Here are a few ways to do such a thing.
We like to do a little thing called a “Weekly Roundup.” This is a way for us to find the latest and greatest cool things that are somehow related to Airstreamin’ and share them with you. We also like to feature one super special handmade somethin’ every week – so if you think your thing fits the bill, get in touch with us for more info.
Are you thinking about starting a blog for your Airstream renovation? I highly recommend starting a WordPress site with Bluehost so that if you ever want to try and make money, you can. I talk more about that here.
