Aircraft Remover (Paint Stripper) Test On Our Airstream Argosy

Aircraft Remover (Paint Stripper) Test On Our Airstream Argosy

I decided to test the Aircraft Remover this afternoon. I decided to do a small corner up high, mostly because the paint is chipping away badly up there anyway and also just because the kids were out in the yard with me and I wasn’t sure how this stuff was going to work. The warnings on the can are pretty brutal and I didn’t want anyone accidentally touching it. They’re really good about listening and eventually I’ll have to work…

Time To Strip (The Paint, That Is)…Our Aircraft Remover Arrived!

Time To Strip (The Paint, That Is)…Our Aircraft Remover Arrived!

Over on Instagram, I noticed that people were having good luck stripping the paint off of their Argosy travel trailers with something called Aircraft Remover. We picked some up from Amazon and if the weather is good I’ll be attempting to use it this weekend. In the meantime, I’m working on a winterization post that will hopefully go up in the next few days, and I will be keeping you guys updated on the Aircraft Remover. Wish me luck! Also,…

Why Instant Pots Are Great For Airstream Owners

Why Instant Pots Are Great For Airstream Owners

When we lived on a boat, my pressure cooker became the best tool in the galley. I used it constantly, from making soups and stews to baking bread. At the time, I was using a Presto 4qt. stainless steel pressure cooker. I still own it and use it frequently, but this year my mom bought me an Instant Pot that I fell in love with. I keep thinking about how amazing it will be to take it along in our…

Step-By-Step On-Frame Airstream Floor Removal

Step-By-Step On-Frame Airstream Floor Removal

Updated January 28, 2017!   Vintage Airstreams can have soggy and/or soft spots in the subflooring. Sometimes these areas are rotted right through, perhaps hidden by the top layer of flooring. This can be quite a shock to the owner once discovered. These spots are often found: Near the door In the bathroom, especially under the tub Around wheel wells Around the bumper Under leaking windows Our Airstream Argosy’s bathroom subfloor was incredibly rotten (especially under the tub), and the…

JVC Everio Quad Proof HD Video Camera (It’s Waterproof!)

JVC Everio Quad Proof HD Video Camera (It’s Waterproof!)

My parents bought their first video camera when I was 5 years old. It was enormous. The thing came with a hard-sided suitcase and gave you lifelong back problems. It was a beast. That said, it also gave me a love of home movies. Instead of sitting down to watch The Smurfs, I’d cuddle up on the couch and watch videos of my family camping, swimming, or hanging out with our friends. Two years ago, I finally broke down and…

Airstream Rock Guards – Protect Your Windows!

Airstream Rock Guards – Protect Your Windows!

Airstreams have beautiful, wonderful windows. I long for the day that I can sit at the table and work while I watch the sunrise with a cup of hot coffee from our Argosy. It’s a huge inspiration for me as we renovate our Airstream. Before we brought our Airstream home, I started reading up on the AirForums and Facebook groups about what the heck to do next. One of the first things that people always say is to protect your…

How To Start An Airstream Blog

How To Start An Airstream Blog

For those of you who would like to start a blog and make money with your site, start here. Back when Justin and I lived on a boat, we kept a blog on Blogger. It was free and easy to use but the options were fairly limited. When I decided to start Airstream Love, I wanted something more professional and powerful – something that will be able to grow with the site as we expand. My goal is to bring in…

Coleman Instant Cabin Tent – The Perfect Family Tent

Coleman Instant Cabin Tent – The Perfect Family Tent

While we renovate our Airstream, we’re camping in our Coleman Instant Cabin. We bought it last year and love how easy it is to set up and take down. One of us can have the tent opened up in less than five minutes and it’s stable enough that the kids can go inside while we stake it down. I never thought I’d want a huge tent, but with a family of four and a dog,  I never thought I’d want a…

Renovating Your Airstream Trailer With Kids

Renovating Your Airstream Trailer With Kids

Our kids are 3 and 5 years old. They want to be involved in everything. They see us covered in itchy fiberglass and they’re trying to get on our shoulders to rip it off the ceiling. Stay back kids! BACK! They see the power washer out, and they pretend that they’re using it. Meanwhile, we’re just trying to get stuff done, and keep the hazardous materials far away from the kids. It’s hard. Here are 5 ways that you can…

5 Reasons To Never Own An Airstream

5 Reasons To Never Own An Airstream

Camping. Psh. It’s so overrated. Why would anyone want to go hang out with all those mosquitos? Those other people? Roasting hot dogs on a stick is so third grade. And Airstreams? Why would anyone bother? Here are 5 reasons to never own an Airstream.   You hate spending time in the great outdoors. Nature is nauseating. Listening to the birds is for the birds, amirite? Gazing at the stars is lame. Seriously. Who in their right minds just sits there and looks…
